Bunnings and Bluey. Probably two of the most iconic Aussie things to ever exist. Now Bluey and Bunnings are set to collide and we are soooo ready for it!
Six stores in Australia (one in each state) will be receiving a complete Hammerbarn-themed transformation. Hammerbarn is the ‘Bunnings’ in the Bluey world, for anyone not familiar with the Blueyverse.
The transformations will take place this month at Bunnings stores located at:Â
- Keparra, Queensland
- Munno Para, South Australia
- Cannington, Western Australia
- Glenorchy, Tasmania
- Blacktown, New South Wales
- Carrum Downs, VictoriaÂ
What sort of changes can we expect?
Well, for one, the name of Bunnings will no longer be Bunnings, but Hammerbarn. It’s straight out of the TV show, folks!
There will also be aisles full of Bluey-themed products including these absolutely adorable garden gnomes for just $19 dollarbucks. Find them in Aisle 300. If you get to the Flamingoes, you’ve gone too far.
You’ll also find plenty of Bluey-themed craft kits to purchase as well as Hammerbarn hats and spades. The Hammerbarn dog plush toys are also sure to be a hit, especially Chattermax.
For those who can’t make it to a rebranded Hammerbarn store, there will still be plenty of Bluey-themed fun at Bunnings stores nationally, including colouring walls, scavenger hunts and free kids D.I.Y. workshops every weekend. Activities include Sand Art and Character Painting plus more.
Hammerbarn comes to life after a hugely successful episode
If you haven’t seen the Hammerbarn episode yet, you may want to take a quick look at ABC Kids cause it’s a goodie!
Here’s a quick recap: The Blue Heeler family head to Hammerbarn and the whole experience was so incredibly relatable to what pretty much every trip to Bunnings is like with kids. Bandit’s there for a pizza oven, but, of course, they leave with a trolley full of stuff they don’t need.
Fun Fact: Hamish Blake voices the sales assistant.
The whole episode is spot on but my fave bit has to be when Bluey and Bingo argue about who got more sauce on their sausages. Literally. Every. Single. Time.
Another fun fact is that the episode actually took inspo from the Bunnings in Keperra, Queensland, one of the new Hammerbarn locations.
Hammerbarn, for real life
Bunnings Chief Customer Officer, Ryan Baker said he was excited by the one-off transformation.
“We’re excited to be working with BBC Studios and Ludo Studio to bring Hammerbarn to life in stores across the country.
Our team across Australia have had kids and parents referring to Bunnings as Hammerbarn ever since the episode aired, so making this a reality in our stores for customers is really special.
We wanted the Hammerbarn experience to be accessible to as many Bluey fans and customers as we could, so it’s great to have a Hammerbarn transformation in each state – even down to the kids trolleys that have been rebranded.”
Well, I don’t know about you, but we will most certainly be at our local Bunnings on Saturday when the festivities get going. Our local Bunnings isn’t one of the featured Hammerbarn locations but I’ve got my eyes on one of those gnomes.
How about you?
Of course, this isn’t the first time Bluey has escaped our TVs and come into our worlds. Check out this epic Bluey AirBnB located in Brisbane. You’ll also be able to step into the Blueyverse later this year when Bluey’s World comes to Brisbane.
