Get ready for a royal wedding everyone. Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle are getting married!
Prince Charles made the official announcement on behalf of his youngest son and the bride-to-be this evening. And Meghan has also revealed how Harry went down on one knee to pop the question.
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle,” Prince Charles said, in an official statement from Clarence House.
“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.”
Meghan a spring bride
Harry, 33, proposed to Meghan, 36, in London earlier this month while the couple were cooking a roast chicken dinner at his Kensington Palace apartment. “It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet, and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee,” Meghan reveals.
Harry says: “Then there were hugs and I had the ring in my finger. I was like ‘Can I give you the ring?’. It was a really nice moment. Just the two of us.”
The spectacular engagement ring includes two diamonds from Harry’s mother’s collection and another diamond from Botswana, where the couple enjoyed their first holiday together. Harry says Princess Diana would have adored his bride-to-be.
“I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me,” Harry says.
The couple shared the happy news with the Queen and other family members soon after over afternoon tea. The engagement comes 18 months after they met on a blind date in Toronto, where Meghan was acting in the television show, Suits.

Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents,” Prince Charles said.
The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.”
Meghan’s parents are Doria Ragland, a 61-year-old yoga instructor and Thomas Markle, an Emmy award-winning lighting director who lives in Mexico. The couple are divorced and Meghan, who recently moved to London with her two dogs, Bogart and Guy, has also been married before.
Her parents wished the couple “a lifetime of happiness” in an official statement, released via the palace.

Kensington Palace followed the announcements with confirmation of its own, sharing the news on Instagram, with a casual snapshot of the Prince and his soon-to-be royal bride.
No firm details yet on the wedding, except that it is likely after the arrival of older brother Prince William’s third child with wife Kate Middleton, due in April. We do expect that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will star in the bridal party as the world’s cutest royal page boy and flower girl.
Kensington Palace tweeted that Prince William and Kate are “very excited” at the engagement.
