Mum Nails Vintage Caravan Renovation – What a Transformation!

If your house or budget isn’t up for a HUGE renovation, how about a pint-sized reno project for fun? This talented mama turned a tired, run-down vintage caravan into an absolute stunning princess with a pretty name to match.

Take one vintage van and a determined mum…

Last year was a year where many of us prepped, primped and primed our homes to fill our days while everything else revolved around a global pandemic.

But for Kristy, it was a holiday home of sorts that she had her eyes set on as a project – a glorious (but very tired) vintage van.

Let the caravan renovation begin!

Kristy posted in Bunnings Mums, Inspiration, Hacks, Tips and Tricks Facebook group her journey with her beloved van, named “Miss Clementine”. The magnificent caravan renovation will inspire you to want to do the same, but eeeeep, so much work!

Until a year ago I was just your average mum who popped into Bunnings for the necessities…. That was until along came Miss Clementine!

13 months later, I now make weekly Bunnings trips, often a sneaky mid-week trip and at times multiple trips over the weekend. Lots of determination, patience and many new skills learnt, my Miss Clemetine Caravan is finished complete with her very own restored table and chairs – and I am offically a Bunnings mum!”

Hand Kristy a HUGE trophy, she’s done us all proud!

A giant project reno on a small scale

Vans are notorious for having teeny tiny sleeping areas – especially in older vans – but not in Miss Clementine!

Kristy ripped out the old existing bed, flipped the orientation and squeezed two single mattresses into the space to create a generous king-size bed – amazing!

Not one to turn away from a challenge, Kristy even flexed her new-found DIY muscles on a kitchen reno. YAS, QUEEN.

Like an absolute star, the van kitchen makeover was complete with a full timber benchtop, new fridge, a fancy pants black sink, adhesive subway style Tic Tac Tiles, even some gorgeous framed family snaps. SO SWEET!

Miss Clementine received a new lick of paint too, Kristy armed herself with an airless spray gun from Bunnings and set to task. The beautiful grey and white striped awning was custom made by Kristy’s mum – this is one reno the whole family could get in on.

But wait, there’s more

If you thought the task was complete when the festoon lights were hung, you’d be wrong! A gorgeous table and chair makeover made this vintage van renovation finally complete. It’s the finest alfresco dining set up you’ll see in a caravan park, that’s for sure!
