Mum Attempts to Make a Bluey Cake, Fails Spectacularly

Cheese and crackers! This may be our favourite Bluey cake fail to ever grace our screens. And the most relatable too!

While some people are aces when it comes to birthday cakes, some are not. These are my people – the NOT people. Lucy falls into this category too. She was in charge of making her son’s Bluey cake.

Anyhow, back to Lucy and her own Bluey cake attempt. Lucy decided to go the easy route and opted for a mud cake hack.

Her inspiration was a TikTok video posted by @tigga_mac where the famed cake artist, Tigga Maccormack creates an adorable Bluey cake using just a Woolworths mud cake, blue and beige icing, wafer ears and eyes made from marshmallows and Smarties.

It looks incredibly simple on TikTok.

Bluey cake masterpiece!

The melting blue icing, the angry eyebrows, the random skewers poking out the top, the unsettling wafer mouth. It’s just all so perfectly wrong. If anything, it could possibly pass for that whinging monster Brobee on Yo Gabba Gabba (remember him??) or Cookie Monster, but even that’s pushing it.

Lucy shared her melting masterpiece on the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group.

“Enjoy this absolute abomination – it looked easy on TikTok… Woolies mud cake was used.”

In addition to bringing ALL the laughs, Lucy’s relatable cake also received an outpouring of support from mums who have been there, baked that, assumed they would be able to pull it off, and then discovered 15 minutes before the party begins that they, in fact, CAN NOT.

Someone wrote: “Nawwwwwwww your version has so much character. Love it!”

Another said: “OMG I genuinely love it. It made me smile, thank you for sharing.”

“This has made my morning,” said another.

“This is the honesty I needed in my life,” said a fourth.

Mud cake hacks that actually look awesome
