RECALL: Sold Out Cadbury Caramilk Chocolate Bars Recalled (Yep, You Read That Right)

It’s flying off the shelves, selling on eBay for $50 a bar and causing quite the chocolate frenzy.

But, in a cruel twist of fate, the insanely popular Cadbury’s Caramilk bars are being recalled. Yes, we’re sad too. And it’s all because there may be bits of plastic hiding in the caramelised white chocolate goodness.

Earlier today (15 February 2018), the nation let out a collective “SAY WHAT?” when Cadbury issued the recall on chocolate bars sold across Australia. The affected blocks have the best before date of 17/01/2019 and 21/01/2019 only.

What’s the problem?

The company posted the Cadbury Caramilk recall to its Facebook page along with links of who to get in contact with.

According to the statement, some blocks “contain small, flexible pieces of food grade plastic as a result of a machinery fault during the manufacturing process”.

Cadbury Caramilk products containing plastic may cause minor injury if consumed.

“Our analysis of the samples received to date has determined that this product does not appear to pose a serious health or food safety risk, but a recall has been initiated to prevent the risk of minor injury,” a Cadbury statement says.

What should consumers do?

Customers shouldn’t eat the affected blocks (yes, we know it’s hard!). Instead, return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

That is, if you still have any of the chocolate left.
