Toddler Steals Baby Jesus in Hilarious Nativity Play Gone Totally Wrong

The first nativity play is a rite of passage for little kids and their parents, but there’s a reason actors say, ‘don’t work with kids or animals’.

In fact one toddler in sheep’s clothing did some ad-libbing and got herself a little too close to the star of the show, with hilarious consequences…

Luckily for us, Tana Benson caught on camera the moment her two-year-old daughter, Teegan, stole the baby Jesus from his cradle, right from under ‘Mary’s’ nose.

‘She’s stealing baby Jesus!’

The video, which already has over 11 million views, shows the cute kiddos smack in the middle of the crucial manger scene. The group are all singing Away in a Manger, when the toddler sees her moment, breaks role and grabs the baby Jesus (which we should point out is a doll). Take a look for yourself – it’s hilarious!

Mary fights back

You can hear the giggles from the audience as Teegan has a little dance with the doll. But Mary is less than amused by this mistreatment of her firstborn and takes Jesus from little Teegan’s clutches.

Our rogue lamb is having none of it and quickly snatches the baby back.

Now Mary gets serious. Bringing Joseph in as backup, she swiftly puts the sheep in a headlock, (much to the amusement of the audience, who are now crying with laughter) disarming the lovable villain.

Audience in stitches

Praise the Lord for Benson, who shared the hilarious episode on Facebook. She told TODAY that Teegan has been singing the songs and talking about the baby Jesus for weeks:

“She just really wanted that baby Jesus,” she said.

“Teegan loves being the center of attention, so the more people laughed, the more excited she was to show her stuff.”

Tana said the child playing Mary is a middle child and a stickler for rules. Does that sound like any of your kids?

“When I went up to take Teegan’s hand and walk her off the stage, the little girl playing Mary said, ‘She touched the baby Jesus! We weren’t supposed to touch the baby Jesus!’ I told her we were sorry!”

Once you’ve finished giggling, take a look at these two toddler’s caught with Sharpies. So much fun when it’s someone else’s kid!
