ROYAL BABY: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Welcome Their Baby Girl!

She’s here! She’s here! One of most anticipated babies of 2021 is here and we couldn’t be more delighted!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed a little girl into their brood. We’re willing to bet the couple’s first child, Archie is the proudest big brother getting around today!

In a move away from Royal tradition, the couple announced the arrival of their daughter via their Press Secretary on Friday.

It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” the statement said. “Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.

Lilibet was born Friday morning at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, and weighed 7 lbs, 11 ounces and is now “settling in at home”.

The statement said Lilibet is named after Queen Elizabeth, Harry’s grandmother, “whose family nickname is Lilibet.” Apparently, when Queen Elizabeth was young she was unable to pronounce her name so Lilibet it was, and has stayed ever since as her nickname.  And naturally, her middle name Diana was chosen to honour Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

In a message of thanks on the couple’s Archewell website, they said:

On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.

We hear both mum and baby are doing well in their loved up newborn bubble at home, with more details and pics on the precious new bub sure to come.

It was mid-February when Harry and Meghan released a couple of new black and white family images to the world and announced they were expecting baby number two, making Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a big brother later in the year!

Baby joy for the extended Royal family

There’s no denying it’s been a tumultuous couple of years for the Royal family. What with strained family relationships, Harry and Meghan stepping back from royal duties and moving to the United States and of course, the passing of Prince Philip. Babies bring such joy and we can only hope the arrival of this wee little poppet does exactly that for the Royal family.

Lilibet is 8th in the line of succession for the throne. Harry and Meghan’s children don’t have titles like “Prince” or “Princess” because usually only grandchildren of the Monarch have titles, however, Queen Elizabeth has made an exception to that for William and Kate’s children, since they are in the direct line of succession.

How did we fare in guessing her name?

It’s hard to put a finger on their naming style with Archie’s mouthful of a name, would they choose something traditional or something modern and trendy?

We asked our Facebook community what names they thought Meghan and Harry would have on their list. Some hot favourites included Grace, Frances and Poppy, which we think are all adorable!

No Royal titles for the children of the Duke and Duchess?

It’s true. It was decided that though Harry and Meghan’s children could have courtesy titles such as Lord or Lady, the couple apparently opting not to bestow these titles on their children. However, it’s since been revealed in Harry and Meghan’s tell-all interview with Oprah earlier this year, when questioned about why Archie was not given a Royal title at birth, Meghan did say “it was not our decision to make”

Nonetheless, living in America with no royal titles, we like to think Archie and his new little sister will be able to lead relatively normal lives.
