The silly season is just around the corner which means the Christmas shopping – and sending – is about to kick off. No one knows about this extra festive pressure quite like Australia Post who are, simply put, bombarded at this time of year.
To help ensure all Christmas packages meant for under the tree actually arrive before Christmas Eve, they’ve shared domestic and international sending cut-off dates for 2022.
If you want your parcel or card to make it to its destination before Christmas, then these are the dates you need to know. It can be quite disappointing to discover that a present you’re sending overseas won’t make it in time for the big day so save the last-minute gifts for stocking stuffers and get your delivery gifts done and dusted early.
Australia Post sending deadlines for domestic
REGULAR PARCEL POST
Monday 12th December 2022 (except WA and NT – you will need to have your parcels ready by Wednesday 7th December 2022)
EXPRESS PARCEL POST
Monday 19th December 2022 (except WA and NT – this date is Wednesday 14th December)
SAME STATE CARD POST (regular post)Â

Australia Post international cut-off dates
Every country will vary but, in general, this is what you can expect if shipping overseas. See the website for the full country list:
CUTOFF FOR ECONOMY AIR LETTERSÂ
November 14th to November 25th 2022.
Most countries will either have the cut-off date of November 14th or November 21st. Some countries extend to November 25th 2022 including Canada and New Zealand. USA and the United Kingdom have the cutoff date of November 21st.
CUTOFF FOR STANDARD PARCELS
November 21st to December 2nd 2022.
The December 2nd cut-off includes the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. For USA and Japan, the cut-off is 28th November 2022.
CUTOFF FOR EXPRESS PARCELS, COURIERED PARCELS AND LETTERS
November 28th to December 9th 2022.
The December 9th cut-off includes the United Kingdom, Japan, USA, New Zealand and Canada. Most other serviced countries have a cut-off date of December 5th or November 28th 2022.
Australia Post warns that items lodged after these dates may not arrive until after Christmas.
