Bring on the F-Bombs! Swearing Makes You a Better Person, Science Says

Frazzled mums of the world, unite! Our love for swear words is actually doing wonders for our self development.

That’s right fellow f-bombers. Swearing means you’re actually super smart and awesome. So f*ck you very much.

Need a reason to swear? Here’s four f*cking great ones

American psychologists have confirmed the theory that swearing is related to pure awesomeness after doing a study at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Okay, so it’s not the most scientific institute in the world, but, whatever, it’s telling us it’s okay to swear. So were gonna roll with it.

The study reveals four key things:

1. Swearing makes us better people

Why? Because sweary people don’t bullsh*t. They say what they mean and they are upfront, open and honest, all excellent qualities to possess.

In fact, the study found that honest people tend to swear a lot more, even in court and when speaking to police. Innocent suspects often curse through the testimony which actually makes them sound more credible.

2. Swearing makes us better friends

The study also suggests that, when choosing your friends, look for those who swear heaps. Because they make great mates! So there you go. Friends who swear, care.

3. Making up swear words means you’re actually super smart

Those who go above and beyond the traditional swear word vocab and make up their own swearwords/ vulgar phrases are the smartest of the bunch, according to the study.

“People who use taboo words understand their general expressive content as well as nuanced distinctions that must be drawn to use slurs appropriately,” the researchers wrote.

“The ability to make nuanced distinction indicates the presence of more, rather than less, linguistic knowledge.”

Hear that? Occasionally calling your kids f*cknuggets is actually a good thing. A sign of intelligence, even.

4. Swearing makes us more tolerant of the f*ckheads in the world

The final finding the psychologists discovered is that people who swear a lot are more at ease with expressing themselves. They have less built-up anger inside and thus, are able to handle the pressures from day-to-day dickheads much better.

We swear because we care

See ladies. Swearing doesn’t make you a bad mum. It makes you awesome. And you now have scientific evidence that proves it. So go forth and tell those judgy Susans who think otherwise to go f*ck themselves.
