Woman Texts her Late Father’s Phone Daily, Receives Reply Four Years Later

Chasity Patterson was just 19 years old when she lost her dad, Jason Ligons ( late father ). The young woman from Arkansas was incredibly close to him and, when he unexpectedly died in a car accident four years ago, it broke her.

In the past four years, Chastity has achieved A LOT. She’s graduated from university, beaten cancer, had her heart broken, and finished off every day with a text message to her late father’s phone number. While she knew her father wouldn’t actually be able to read the messages, this is simply something she did. Something a lot of people do when they lose a loved one.

‘Tomorrow is going to be a tough day’

On the fourth year anniversary of Jason’s death, Chastity knew she was in for a tough day. So she reached for her phone and sent her dad a big message, outlining everything she’s achieved in the past four years, as well as what she hoped for in the future.

She knew she wasn’t going to actually receive a message back.

But then she did.

Not from her late father, of course, but from a man named Brad. Brad was also a father. He lost his daughter in a car accident as well, back in 2014.

When Brad got a new mobile, he must have been given Chasisty’s dad’s old phone number. For years he’d been receiving daily messages from Chastity and, while this may sound creepy, it’s not at all. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Below is the full exchange so you see what we mean:

Chastity shared the text exchange on Facebook and it instantly went viral.

She captioned the post:

I text my dad everyday to let him know how my day goes, for the past Four years! Today was my sign that everything is okay and I can let him rest!

He never missed a school dance, prom, my games and YES he would give me long talks about my mouth and attitude. I had to introduce my boyfriends to him (If I was allowed to date) and he would act like a normal dad and give us the long talk.

I shared my messages for my friends and family to see that there is a God and it might take 4 years, but he shows up right on time!”

What a lovely surprise. While it’s not known if Brad and Chastity still communicate daily, we would like to think they do.

If you love a feel-good story, take a look at this beautiful mermaid-themed photo shoot that this dad surprised his young daughter with.

Mermaid dad photoshoot

Aspen wanted nothing more than a mermaid photo shoot for her 8th birthday and Dad delivered! According to the photographer who captured the fun,

I had the honour of doing a mermaid session for this sweet girl’s 8th birthday, and all she wanted was for her Dad to join in on the fun. Let me tell you he did NOT disappoint! The laughs, the joy, and the memories they created were the absolute best gift he could’ve given her.

I have no doubt that this story, this priceless memory, will be talked about and cherished for generations to come. Take the pictures. Play with them every chance you get, for they are only little for so long.”
